Empty Stocking began in 1975 to make sure every child in Winnebago County had at least one toy each Christmas. The Register Star took over the sponsorship in 1981. This year, we are expanding our reach for donations to Boone County and are providing toys to the Belvidere Outreach Mission. Toy registration and distribution in Winnebago County will remain as past years. Readers donated $56,532.62 in 2010, exceeding the $50,000 goal. Our goal for 2011 remains at $50,000.
